Champions Crowned At Finals
12 teams take Super Y-League titles after competitive week
After five days of competition involving 131 boys and girls teams from across the United States and Canada, Tuesday saw 12 champions crowned at the USL Super Y-League North American Finals at the JC Handley Complex in Brandon, Fla. Ironbound SC took its second consecutive championship, winning the Boys U17 Division in dramatic fashion after their penalty shootout against the Kalamazoo Kingdom went to 10 rounds. [+]

MPS Renegades Claim U17 Girls Championship
Goalkeeper Ryan Baird scored the decisive goal of a penalty shootout in the 10th round before turning aside a shot from his Kalamazoo Kingdom counterpart Nick Strait as Ironbound SC won its second consecutive USL Super Y-League North American Championship 8-7 in penalties after the two teams had finished regulation and overtime tied 1-1. Baird shot low to the right with the first shot of the 10th round, and then when Strait went the same way got down well to turn his shot around the right post, starting the celebration for his teammates. TSF Takes Dramatic U16 Boys Win
Seacoast Earns U16 Girls Championship
A last-minute penalty by Steve Zamudio, his second goal of the game, gave TSF Academy a dramatic 2-1 victory against defending champions Coquitlam Metro-Ford in the final of the Boys U16 Division at the USL Super Y-League North American Finals. Zamudio’s opportunity came after Mateo Restrepo was brought down in the right side of the penalty area. The TSF striker stepped up and fired low into the right corner of the net, just past the stretched hand of the Coquitlam goalkeeper. [+]

Princeton Takes Boys Title
You’ve seen it many times – a team has control of a game and lets it slip away, giving the opponent some daylight and handing off the momentum along the way in an inevitable loss. Seacoast United looked like it might have done just that in the U15 Girls championship, letting a 3-1 lead slip away against TSF Academy and heading to overtime on its heels. Luckily for Seacoast, forward Jackie Ham decided to rewrite the script, running onto a long Susannah Gray free kick at the far post to head Seacoast to a 4-3 overtime victory and the title. [+]

Kalamazoo Takes Girls Crown
The Brandon Flames came through in the clutch again. After winning a thrilling penalty shootout less than a day earlier, Brandon took to the field in the U14 boys final against TSF, which had won its own dramatic overtime semifinal as well. Brandon would prevail once more, walking out as 3-0 winners, claiming the U14 boys crown. [+]

Atlanta Fire cruise to U13 girls title
After four grueling days of soccer against some of the North America’s brightest talents the Brandon Flames and Central Jersey Spartans met each other in the U13 boys final. Both sides had won their semifinal matches 3-0, but this match would be that easy. After an intense match, Brandon prevailed as 3-2 winners and was crowned North American Champions. [+]

Cleveland outlasts Rangers for U12 boys championship
The Cleveland Internationals made the U12 boys final and were determined the make the most of it. After surviving a penalty shootout to advance to the final a day earlier, the Internationals were looking make it five wins from five matches. Cleveland would do just that winning 2-0 against the New Jersey Rangers to claim the title. [+]

Kalamazoo Advances To Face Ironbound In Final
The Kalamazoo Kingdom scored late in the first half, and then held on late, to take a 1-0 victory against TSF Academy in the semifinals of the Boys U17 Division at the USL Super Y-League North American Finals. A day after scoring a hat trick to allow the Kingdom win their group, Nick Wysong was again on hand to provide the decisive goal. While it took both teams a while to settle, once Kalamazoo did it was able to gain the upper hand. A deflected, looping shot after a free kick was well saved, and then a pair of chances came to Matt Sovis, only for both to be fired over the crossbar. [+]

Coquitlam Wins Another Classic Against Tampa Bay
Coquitlam Metro-Ford’s Razvan Gheorghe scored with just over a minute to play in overtime as the defending champions advanced to the Boys U16 Championship with a 1-0 victory against Tampa Bay United at the USL Super Y-League North American Finals on Monday afternoon. A year after the two teams had met in a classic final, Coquitlam winning in a penalty shootout after a 2-2 draw, the Canadian side again came out on top in the 99th minute of the contest. [+]

Seacoast Holds on Against Rage; TSF Reaches Final
Seacoast United Head Coach Dave Burgess would have preferred a comfortable result in Monday’s U15 Girls semifinal against Rage SC, but as is usually the case against quality opponents, his squad had to sweat out a 2-1 victory. Rage cut a 2-0 Seacoast lead in half in the closing minutes and pressed hard for the equalizer before time expired, but Seacoast was able to hold on and advance to Tuesday’s Super Y-League championship game. Brandon Earns Finals Berth After PK Drama
After sweeping through their group, the Brandon Flames entered their match against West Pines looking to make it four wins on the trot. The Flames ran into a resilient West Pines side though that pushed them to the brink, and while it took the full 70 minutes, 20 minutes of extra time and penalties, Brandon prevailed and booked their date in Tuesday’s final.
